Your Story Counts, and I Want to Tell It.
Words and photographs by Elizabeth Soto
I’m Elizabeth Soto and I’m junior pursuing a B.S through the CUNY baccalaureate program for unique and Interdisciplinary studies. I’m a freelancer photojournalist.
As an immigrant myself, I know the burdens and the struggles immigrants (of all ages) have to face when coming to this nation seeking for a better future. From having to face the many stereotypes and attacks our society has towards immigrants to what we sacrificed to be where we are. The untold stories, the things you thought you could leave in the past but will now be with you for the rest of your life.
The endless drops of sweat running down your face as you work 12 hours under the sun. The countless hours you spent studying to become the doctor you want to be, remembering the last time you saw your mother 20 years ago. In a time where immigrants are insulted, emotionally and physically abused I want to be the voice of those who can’t speak.
Come as you are, with your scars, struggles and the pain. Your sacrifices, your losses and your dreams. Your strength, your passion and grit. Your story counts and I’m here to listen and most importantly, I’m here tell the world.
