Letter to the Editor: NYPIRG on Voter Registration

Letter to the Editor: NYPIRG on Voter Registration

Welcome back to CCNY!

While the pandemic continues to impact communities across New York State and the country, the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) at City College is still committed to our fight for economic, environmental, and social justice.

And that begins with voting on Election Day, November 3.

That’s why NYPIRG interns and volunteers will register students through a non-partisan voter registration drive up until the October 9 registration deadline. Possibly now more than ever, your voice needs to be heard.

According to the Brookings Institution, this year Millennials and Generation Z represent the largest share of eligible voters. As some of the newest members of the democratic process, it’s critical that students are registered to vote and understand how to vote by absentee ballot or in person.

We face unique challenges this year, but together we can further empower the student voice. Follow us on Instagram @nypirgccny to see how we advocate for change every single day, or join us at our remote chapter meetings on Tuesdays at 12 to learn more about our for-credit internship program and volunteer opportunities. Also, our virtual Voter Registration event is coming up on Tuesday September 22 from 12-2 PM.
