While people are stuck at home due to Coronavirus, they have established new routines and all of the possible forms of entertainment within their homes. People are reminiscing on their old routines, everything from getting a latte at a local cafe to even taking long commutes to school or work. With each passing day, people are wishing for the day when they can finally enjoy the small luxuries of life.
These are difficult times, not only because we are faced with a pandemic but also because many of us are accepting that we can no longer indulge in the activities that once brought us joy. We should refrain from this way of thinking by imposing our appreciation rather than our longing for these activities. But its always nice to remember how we used to spend our time. Students shared what they’re missing most while they’re practicing social distancing and staying home.
James White (22) moved back to Maryland and is staying with his family. While he misses attending concerts and sporting events, he also misses the simple act of playing basketball with friends or going to the gym.
Jasmin Martin (20) is staying in her apartment in Harlem. She misses her family and also getting her eyebrows done “they look crazy”.
Kristian Orozco (23) is staying at his home in New Rochelle, he misses coming to campus and seeing his friends.
Salma Mones (21) is sheltered at her parent’s apartment and can’t wait for the day she can dine out and attend an EDM show with her friends
Karina Tauber Gorodkin (age not disclosed) is staying in her NYC apartment, while she also misses friends and family she cants wait for the day she gets to break it down on the dance floor again.
Bridget Guevara (22), cant wait to enjoy brunch again especially if it includes bottomless bellinis.
Fernanda Parrado (22) moved back to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is staying with her family. What she misses most is taking long walks and observing the life of her surroundings.
While it may feel that the public safety precautions are a new reality, it’s important to remember that this is temporary. Soon, slowly but surely, we will fall back into our old routines. Nonetheless, it’s important that we stay home, and develop healthy practices to keep our mental and physical health in check.
