Another Rainy Weekend in the City

What's up this weekend by Alex AlemanNews flash: The weather today sucks. It's not going to be much better over the weekend, so outdoor plans are probably out of the question. What are you going to do this weekend then? In a city like ours, you've got endless possibilities. Here are a few indoor places for you to check out.Are you a movie fan? Who isn't! Everyone should check out The 50th New York Film Festival. This annual event,  produced by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, showcases new films and documentaries from all over the world (many of which usually go on ti win Oscars). One of CCNY's own professors, Chantal Akerman, will be showing her film Chantal Akerman on October 8 at 6 PM,  so it's a must see event.

Do you like Andy Warhol, art, or pop culture in general? Then check oout Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This colorful, comprehensive exhibit showcases Warhol's paintings, sculpture, and films alongside those by other artists who reinterpret, respond, or react to his groundbreaking work. Andy Warhol has inspired countless artists, so take a trip to the Met and see if this free exhibit inspires you.

If you're willing to brave this weekend's rainy weather, then you should head to New York's 20th Chile Pepper Fiesta. Enjoy an enormous collection of music, dance, and spicy foods from around the world this Saturday at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Learn how to cook traditional meals and spicy snacks, or just just walk around eating them all! With fire jugglers and dance ensembles, everyone will find something they like at this annual celebration.

There are no days off next week, so take advantage of these cool events and have fun this weekend! We all need that boost to get us through the first full week of school after so many holidays.
