City Never Sleeps By Joyce Li Private vs. Public: In today's tough economy, public colleges may be the better choice for students and their family. Ironically, private universities have had a higher enrollment rate than public schools, at least that's the case in California. The U.S. Department of Education reports that average tuition has increased by 15 percent around the nation between 2008 and 2011. In response, some private universities have been offering more financial aid to students compared to public schools. The site allows students and their professors to connect with their classmates on the basis of the individual courses that they are taking, form study groups and check assignments.
