City Never Sleeps. Here's what you need to know right now.Where Not to Eat: Yesterday, the cafeteria in NAC was shut down for health violations. Seriously?Last year, the main eating establishment on campus received a C grade from the New York City Department of Health for 52 violations. But school officials formed a committee and last spring, most of the issues were corrected.But they didn't stick, and yesterday's problems (62 this time) are worse. Here's a partial listing of the most recent violations. Don't read this while eating:
- Raw, cooked or prepared food is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded properly.
- Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas.
- Filth flies or food/refuse/sewage-associated flies present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas. Filth flies include house flies, little house flies, blow flies, bottle flies and flesh flies. Food/refuse/sewage-associated flies include fruit flies, drain flies and Phorid flies.
- Hand washing facility not provided in or near food preparation area and toilet room. Hot and cold running water at adequate pressure to enable cleanliness of employees not provided at facility. Soap and an acceptable hand-drying device not provided.

The Washington Post notes that President Obama is courting college students. While the Republicans are doing the convention thing in Florida, Obama will visit three university towns: Ames, Iowa; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Charlottesville, Va. to try and get the student vote. The Post says the President is promising all kinds of good stuff, like a freeze on college loan interest, to help reduce mountains of student debt. As the campaign progresses, let's hold him to it.
