The Cafeteria Is Back!

City Never Sleeps. Here's what you need to know right now.

What a Difference a Day Makes: The Cafeteria has reopened. The New York City Department of Health shut it down Monday citing 62 disgusting violations including rodents, flies and non-handwashing employees.

But 24 hours later, the doors re-opened. Here's the CCNY official response from our director of PR, Ellis Simon:"Yesterday (August 27), the City College cafeteria was closed after a New York City Department of Health found a range of violations. College facilities personnel immediately addressed and corrected the violations, and the cafeteria reopened around 2 pm today (August 28) following another inspection. The safety and welfare of members of The City College community is of utmost importance, and we will implement appropriate additional oversight measures to ensure that campus food service operations maintain the highest standards. We're on it. As things progress, we'll keep you updated.......Gobama: As the Republican convention moves along (tonight watch v-p nominee Paul Ryan), President Obama continues to rally college students on campuses across the country. He supports Pell grants, overhaul of the federal student aid program and the push to keep interest rates low for some student loans. He also trash talked his opponent Mitt Romney as he highlighted his healthcare law and the provision that allows young people to stay on their parents' insurance until age 26. "I do care," he said, and then proposed a new name for his rival's health plan: "Maybe we should call his plan 'Romney Doesn't Care.'"
